The “Bin Van” is being unpacked and the hire equipment returned as In The Bin finishes up its hugely successful tour of regional NSW, SA, and Vic for 2006. 13 communities participated in the October –November tour with over 2,500 people attending festival screenings, 30 short films produced from the Education Program, and over 150 students participating in the workshops over the last two months.
This year alone In The Bin Education Program worked with over 600 students producing over 100 short films in the workshops. Audiences in general were huge as regional communities are now beginning to know what to expect from In The Bin with some of Australia’s highest quality short films. And next year is set to be even bigger with already more bookings than usual for March, April and May.
Do you want to be a part of this unique event? In The Bin is now calling for entries for 2007 and you can be a part of this if you have a film under 15mins long!!! In The Bin is one of the only touring Film Festivals in Australia to pay film makers every time we show their films, and your films will have the opportunity to screen is some of Australia’s most unique places. Are you a community who wants In The Bin in your region? Well jump on board, we still have a limited number of dates available from April to July for the early part of the year, and as a result of the interest we have received we will now take booking for year round tours. In The Bin is bringing its festival home with three great events happening on the Gold Coast throughout December and January. The first two will be held at one of our major supporters The Currumbin RSL. Join us on Saturday 9th December from 6pm for an M-rated Movie night with Margaritas $4.50 and free entry to the event (no children permitted at this event). Food will be available for purchase - BYO seating. Family Fun by the Creek on Sunday 10th December - Christmas Carols and Santa from 6pm, Family short films from 7-9pm. Food and beverages available for purchase. BYO seating.
In January The Gold Coast will have its first opportunity to participate in the In The Bin Education Program. Students on school holidays can now experience what the regional communities have grown to love with our unique Education Program. We are currently calling for applications to participate in the program from students aged 12 years and upwards. For more information contact dana@inthebin.net.au The Education Program will take place at Royal Pines Resort from the 8th to the 10th of January with the students films along with Cart-orts Film Festival program screening on Saturday the 13th.
