Funny name, serious festival. Since 1999 In The Bin has been providing cinematic entertainment for regional and rural Australia. The festival was the first in Australia to travel to rural and remote communities throughout Australia, also the first in Australia to pay screening fees to the film makers. The festival takes pride in screening the highest quality films available. In the past this has included many Academy Award winning and nominated short films from esteemed directors such as Taika Waititi, Adam Elliot, and Wayne Blair.
Cart-orts Family Festival
An extension to In The Bin, ‘Cart-orts’ is a family friendly film festival aimed to engage, entertain, and showcase films the whole family can celebrate. Films entered via In The Bin also get the automatic opportunity to screen at Cart-orts. It is a fun night under the starts with some of the wild locals roaming around the Sanctuary parklands ready to say G’day!
Silent Movie Night
The Silent Movie night is a major attraction in our festival list. Drawing audiences from near and far to a serene outdoor venue, the Silent Movie Night also involves the local community. We provide a local school band or community band with funds and the film to be shown a month prior to the festival, then they create their own soundtrack to the film which is performed live to the audience as the film is shown.
We can adapt the festival programs to suit specific needs. If your community wants to draw on more local talent we can do that, if you are a feature film maker keen to get your film out to a wider audience, we can do that. What ever you need we can do it all you have to do is ask. We also select particular films for the Queensland Touring Film Festival aimed specifically at engaging and stimulating creativity within the community.
